Fatigued from foot pain? The frustration of taking painful steps is a common complaint to podiatrists. Foot pain is a factor that can influence your day. Let’s fix it. The PediFix team has suggestions to help you find relief. One of the best places to start is scheduling a visit with your podiatrist. In the meantime, here are five ways to improve your comfort:
Keep your eyes on the height of heels
Are you wondering about your shoes’ heel height? When wearing heels, choosing the correct and comfortable heel height can determine how often you will wear those shoes again. Who wants to walk in pain? No one.
Here is a tip: If you decide to wear your favorite high heels, wear them wisely. Avoid walking in them all day. Keep a pair of shoes with a lower heel handy, at your desk or in your car.
Beware of going barefoot
Do you walk around barefoot more often than you should? If you have foot pain, going without shoes won’t soothe your discomfort. More than ever, our feet need support, especially when they require time to heal. For patients with diabetes, walking barefoot can be a dangerous habit. Remember, a cut or a scratch may develop into a non-healing wound.
Break up with bad shoes
If your shoes are unsupportive, it is time to let them go. Shoes without support are only making your foot pain worse. Flip-flops and flats are common examples. These styles offer little to no arch support. A heel height that is slightly higher is more helpful than a flat shoe.
Add more support
Have you considered learning more about custom orthotics? Inserts may be helpful, too. Remember, when your feet are in pain, you need support. There are options to address your foot pain, and PediFix is ready to help you take the steps toward resolving discomfort.
Stretch it out
The list goes on when we talk about the benefits of stretching. The same applies when you are experiencing foot pain. Did you know stretching your calves can help with your foot pain? Talk with your podiatrist about helpful stretching exercises.
