Getting a blister can be a minor annoyance that escalates to a painful problem very quickly.

A blister is a collection of fluid underneath the top layer of the skin (the epidermis). It is a defense mechanism, or “natural bandage,” created by the body to help repair damaged skin due to friction. Blisters can form inside wet or dry shoes & boots or even on hands or other parts of at-risk skin. The greater the friction, the worse the blister can become.

If you feel a pebble in your shoe or something repetitively rubbing against your skin on the same spot, you may find a blister forming sooner than you think. The best thing to do is prevent a blister from happening in the first place. Be sure that your skin isn’t at risk for chaffing and be sure your socks and shoes fit properly.

If ignored, blisters can open as a result of friction. Wash your hands and keep the wound clean to avoid infection treat with an antibiotic ointment and cover wound with sterile gauze. Change the dressing at least once per day if blister shows no signs of infection. If the open wound shows any signs of possible infection or you have diabetes, see your doctor immediately.

There are varying degrees of blisters, and their treatment depends on how big or sensitive they are. Both small and large blisters should be treated with effective over-the-counter relief solutions from pedifix.com before they can become a problem.
